If you’ve ever tried designing your own charts for color knitting, you’re probably aware that regular graph paper just won’t do. You need knitter’s graph paper. It’s a drag that knitter’s graph paper can be hard to find in stores, but I have some great news. Now there’s some printable, downloadable knitter’s graph paper available for free online, at the About Crochet web site:

Instructions for a Free Rainbow Stripe Pattern in Tunisian Knit Stitch

This rainbow pattern is easy to crochet. Yes, crochet. It’s worked in Tunisian knit stitch, a crochet stitch which resembles stockinette stitch in knitting.

To create the rainbow striped pattern as shown,

Work your starting chain in purple yarn, then work two rows of purple.
Then work two rows of blue.
Then work two rows of green.
Then work two rows of yellow.
Then work two rows of orange.
Then work two rows of red.
Then the pattern starts over again with two more rows of purple. Repeat ad infinitum.

Petaloo flowers aren’t just for paper crafts, although that is where I’ve usually noticed people using them. Petaloo flowers can also be used to put the finishing touches on knitting, crochet, felting, sewing, and other wearable art projects. Keep in mind that Petaloo makes different varieties of faux flowers; some Petaloo flowers are felt, some of them are foam, some of them are paper, and some of them are fabric. So you have to make sure to choose an appropriate fabrication for the project you are working on. CHA Fashion Show For Knitters and Crocheters, Hosted by Vanna White and Lion Brand Yarns

I was delighted to catch a few minutes of the Lion Brand Yarns fashion show at the Winter 2009 Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) winter trade show in Anaheim, California. The fashion show featured lots of lovely knit and crocheted clothes and accessories: scarves, sweaters, cardigans, jackets, handbags, stoles, shrugs and wraps, all of which were created using Lion Brand Yarns. The fashion show was hosted by Vanna White, who was one of the many celebrities in attendance at the CHA trade show. My hat’s off to the talented designers who put these lovely ensembles together. Very inspiring, ladies!

I was so excited to be able to attend the Craft and Hobby Association (CHA) trade show in Anaheim, California. One of the yarn vendors I was most excited to see was Premiere Yarns. Premiere Yarns manufactures a range of exquisite yarns for knitting, crocheting and crafts. Their yarns are all lovely, but I particularly fell in love with their colorful new “Coral Batik” and “Coral Print” variegated yarns. I took some photos to share with you, but I really wish you could touch these yarns in person. They are delightfully soft. The colors are exquisite.
